Fajita vegetables

Fajita vegetables made with bell peppers are famous at chipotle. They’re great as a side, or for adding to burritos or burrito bowls.

If you’re making your own homemade burrito bowls, burritos, or chicken fajitas, then you’ll want to learn how to make these easy fajita veggies the right way.

What veggies are used to make chipotle fajita vegetables?

The vegetables used to make this are bell peppers and onions.
  • You can use either green, red, orange, or yellow bell peppers for this recipe. I used green, red, and yellow.
  • You can use either red, yellow, or white onions for this recipe. I used yellow onions.

What is fajita seasoning made of?

I make my own homemade fajita seasoning with a mix of salt, sweetener of choice, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, cumin, and oregano mixed together in a small bowl.
This DIY fajita seasoning is super simple to make and it ensures I’m not consuming any fillers or additives. But, if you are not very particular you can also buy fajita seasoning from your local grocery store for this recipe too.
This is not specifically a seasoning for fajita veggies, but it can double up as that quite easily.

Is Cajun seasoning the same as fajita seasoning?

Cajun seasoning and fajita seasoning are not the same. While both of these seasoning mixes have some spices in common, cajun seasoning contains some spices that are not included in fajita seasoning.

Ingredients needed to make chipotle fajita veggies

  • 1 large onion
  • 3 medium bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin

What are the best onions for fajitas

Traditional fajita recipes use white onions which would suggest these as the best onions for making fajitas and I do like to use them sometimes. However, I like using yellow onions as this type of onion has a nice balance of sweetness and acidity. I also like using red onions for my fajita recipes because it adds this extra pop of color to the dish.

Ultimately, the best onions for fajitas are the onion you have on hand or the one that is more easily available to you.
