This homemade seasoning mix is also great for adding to sour cream or Greek yogurt to make delicious dips. Made with only ingredients you likely already have at home, this homemade fajita seasoning is a mix worth making and having in your kitchen!

Recipe Variations

Some of the ingredients in the fajita seasoning mix can be adjusted or removed to suit your needs. Here are some ideas:

  • Sweetener: I follow a keto/low carb lifestyle so I used erythritol rather than sugar in the recipe. If you’re not following a keto lifestyle feel free to use sugar in this seasoning mix. You can also leave out all sweeteners if you prefer.
  • Cayenne pepper: If you really enjoy spicy food, you can add an extra 2 teaspoons to the mix. Or, you can leave it out if you don’t like your food spicy.
  • Paprika: You can use smoked paprika if you have it.

Fajita seasoning ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 3 tsp Oregano
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tsp Onion powder
  • 2 tsp Garlic powder

How to make fajita seasoning

To make, gather all your ingredients in one place, then measure them out.

Then use a funnel and pour all the ingredients into a small glass jar.

If the jar has a lid, seal and shake to mix well. Otherwise, mix well with a small spoon.

Storing fajita seasoning

Properly storing homemade fajita seasoning mix so it isn’t exposed to air and humidity is really important. To keep your seasoning mix as fresh as possible for as long as possible, store it in a glass jar with a lid. You can keep it for up to 6 months properly stored.
