When it comes to frozen wings, many people wonder if they can be air fried and the answer is yes!

While I prefer to air fry my wings once they’ve thawed, it is quite easy to air fry frozen wings. 

In fact, air-fried frozen wings require no special methods and will need just an extra 10 minutes cook time.

Therefore, these are perfect for days when you forget to defrost your chicken wings or days when you’re busy, but, you really crave some delicious wings.

Ingredients for frozen air fryer chicken wings

  • 8 frozen wings
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp complete seasoning
  • A pinch of paprika
  • 1/3 cup of G. Hughes bbq sauce

How to make air fryer frozen chicken wings

Start by gathering all the ingredients in one place.

Then place the frozen wings in the air fryer at 400 degrees and air fry for 10 minutes.

Remove from the air fryer, break apart with a wooden spoon or spatula and air fry for an additional 2 minutes at 400 degrees.

Remove from the air fryer, place in a bowl and season with 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp complete seasoning and a pinch of paprika and mix well.

Place the seasoned wings back into the air fryer at 400 degrees for 5-6 minutes.

Remove, then coat with 1/3 cup of buffalo sauce or G. Hughes bbq sauce.

Then air fry on each side for 5 minutes or until the chicken wings have reached your desired crispiness or an internal temperature of 165 degrees. 

Air fryer frozen wings recipe variations

While this recipe calls for bbq sauce, there are also other air fryer wings variations you can make. These include:

  • Dry rub frozen air fried wings. To make, follow the same cooking instructions above. Then once the chicken wings have been cooked, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and use to coat the cooked chicken wings. Then use a dry rub of your choice, such as this easy homemade cajun seasoning or this fajita seasoning and add 1 tablespoon unto the buttered wings. Toss well, then air fry for 5-10 minutes and serve. You can find a simple recipe for some dry rub air fryer chicken wings here. 
  • You can also make use of other sauces to make these wings including buffalo sauce. 

Storing air fryer frozen wings

To freeze: Place any leftovers in an air-tight container and freeze for up to 3 months. You can also place the leftover wings in a ziplock bag, remove as much air as possible, seal them, and store them for up to 3 months.

To refrigerate: Place any leftovers in an air-tight container and refrigerate for 4 days.

What to serve with frozen air fryer chicken wings

Serve these chicken wings with carrots sticks, celery sticks, and a dip of your choice You can also serve these wings with, fries, mac and cheese, or green beans. These air-fried wings will also pair excellently with cream pasta like my cream half and half pasta or my mouthwatering creamy linguine pasta
