Similarly, keto spinach dip is made with ingredients that are also naturally low carb such as cheese, spinach, butter, and a few seasonings.

Ingredients for spinach dip

  • 11 oz fresh spinach leaves (or 1 cup frozen)
  • 1 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 6 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)

How to make spinach dip

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, then measure out and gather all the ingredients as this will make preparing this recipe easier.

Next melt the butter in a sauce pan, then add the chopped spinach. Also add the garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce and a pinch of salt. Cook for 2 minutes on medium to high heat.

Then lower the heat and add the cream cheese to the saucepan and mix well.

Once it starts bubbling, add 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese and stir until everything is properly melted. About 2 minutes.

Note: At this point you can go ahead and skip the remaining steps and simply serve the recipe as is with baking.  However, if you’d  like a cheesy topping go ahead and follow the remaining steps.

Transfer the spinach and cheese mix into a very small baking dish, then top with the remaining mozzarella cheese, then bake in a preheated oven for 12 minutes at 350 degrees.

Remove the baked spinach dip from the oven, and serve warm with a side of your choice.

Is fresh spinach better than frozen spinach for spinach dip recipe?

Both frozen spinach and fresh spinach work well for this recipe, although frozen spinach is naturally easier to use when cooking.

However, I used fresh spinach leaves because I believe they make my spinach recipes taste a whole lot better. With fresh spinach leaves, only 1 extra simple step needs to be taken. That of removing the stems from the leaves so I always just try to opt for fresh leaves.

If you’d prefer to use frozen spinach for this low carb spinach dip recipe, 1 cup of frozen spinach is all you’ll need to properly substitute for the 11 ounces of fresh spinach leaves used for the recipe.

Storing

You can store this spinach dip in the fridge for up to 5 days. Store in an airtight container to help keep the recipe fresh. To reheat, scoop out some of the dip and place it into the microwave until hot. Serve and enjoy!
