This smoothie is ready in a few minutes and is super refreshing. It features almond milk instead of yogurt and used ice to add extra thickness to the smoothie.

Tips and tricks

This easy mixed berry smoothie is great throughout the year, but it’s even better when fresh berries are in season and abundant.

Make sure your berries are ripe.

If you don’t like almond milk you can use equal parts coconut milk, whole milk, or 2% milk too.

To thicken the smoothie, throw a few cubes of ice in the blender other with the rest of the ingredients.

Ingredients for Mixed berry smoothie with no yogurt

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk – If you’re doing keto then stick to unsweetened almond milk. If not you can use vanilla almond milk, whole milk, or 2% milk. You can also substitute with 1 cup of coconut milk. Coconut milk will add extra creaminess and a wonderful tropical flavor to the smoothie.
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract, optional – Extracts make smoothies super delicious. If you have no vanilla extract, you can also use almond extract, coconut extract, or maple extract.
  • 3 large strawberries
  • ½ cup blueberries
  • ¼ cup blackberries
  • Use your desired sweetener here – Some ideas include Stevia drops, honey, or maple syrup.

Storing

This recipe makes one smoothie. However, if you double the recipe and have leftovers, you can easily freeze it so it lasts longer.

Pour the leftovers into a mason jar, seal shut then freeze. When you’re ready to enjoy it again, simply thaw it out for a few minutes, then pour in the blender. Blend and enjoy!

How to thicken berry smoothie without yogurt

I’ve touched on this above, but here are some ways to thicken a smoothie without yogurt:

Frozen fruits – Frozen fruits are a great way to thicken up any smoothie. My recipe uses fresh berries, but you can easily freeze the berries beforehand.

Chia seeds – A scoop of chia seeds will help thicken this refreshing smoothie easily.

Ice – A few cubes of ice are another easy way to help add thickness to this smoothie. I’d use 2 -3 ice cubes for this recipe.
