Garlic butter sauce is made of butter, minced garlic and some seasonings of your choice. Sometimes lemon juice is added to garlic butter sauce and other times, oregano, thyme, basil, salt and pepper can be added to garlic butter sauce to enhance the flavors of the sauce.

Is garlic butter sauce unhealthy?

Anything eaten excessively can be thought of as unhealthy. Therefore, once eaten in moderation garlic butter sauce isn’t so bad.  The garlic found in the butter sauce makes it an excellent source of vitamin B6 manganese, selenium and vitamin C.

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 sprig of fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How to make garlic butter sauce

Gather all of the ingredients in one place. Also, peel and mince the garlic as finely as possible.

Then, in a small saucepan, add 1 tablespoon of butter and the minced garlic.

Cook these for 1 minute or until fragrant on medium heat making sure to stir often to prevent the garlic from burning.

Next add the remaining butter to the saucepan.

Then place on the stovetop on medium heat for for 1 minute and 30 seconds. When the time is up, add the chopped parsley, salt and pepper to taste and cook for an additional 30 seconds  before removing from the heat. 

Remove this garlicky butter sauce from the heat and serve warm.

Storing butter garlic sauce

You can store this butter garlic sauce by placing it in an airtight container and storing it in the fridge for up to a week. When you’re ready to use, simply reheat the butter sauce on the stovetop for a few minutes until its melted and serve warm. You can also reheat this sauce in the microwave at 30 second intervals.

Can butter garlic sauce be made ahead?

Yes! This butter sauce with minced garlic is very easy to make ahead of time as it keeps well in the fridge for up to 1 week. 

Can I freeze garlic butter sauce?

You can also freeze this garlic and butter sauce by placing it in the freezer for up to a few months. Note, that the texture of the butter sauce will become somewhat grainy once it has been frozen. Therefore, it is best to serve this sauce immediately rather than making it and placing it in the freezer for a later date.
