Danish butter cookies are characterized by its buttery flavor and crispy texture. If you ever tried one you already know why are they so popular. Still, not all Danish cookies are keto approved, especially store-bought ones.

So, is it possible to enjoy low-carb and Keto friendly danish cookies? The answer is yes, and with this easy danish butter cookie recipe I can show you how to make them keto friendly as well as yummy.

Instead of using plain flour and classic sugar, which aren’t recommended when following a low carb  lifestyle, this recipe calls for fine almond flour and Swerve, plus a few minutes. How simple is that? Really that is all you have to do!

How many carbs are in low carb danish butter cookies?

Danish cookies usually contain about 5 grams of carbs per cookie. However, with some low carb adjustments, these keto danish butter cookies contain only 0.8 grams of net carbs per cookie.

Important tips and tricks

  1. Use almond flour for this recipe. If you use coconut flour, these cookies will be dry and they will break.
  2. Before baking the cookies, pop them in a freezer for 10 minutes. This will ensure that the cookies have a very crispy finish.
  3. You can dip the cookies, or at least half the cookie into melted keto-friendly chocolate. If you choose to do this you can use lily’s chocolate chips.
  4. Make sure you beat the butter well. If there are any lumps of the butter, they will just melt and the cookies will not be appealing.
  5. For cookies with more texture as in shape, use a star shaped nozzle.
  6. The trick with these cookies is to chill them before baking. Only chilled cookies will have that crispy finish.
