These keto calzones are a great twist on classic Italian Calzones. The calzones are made with fathead dough and filled with pepperoni and mozzarella. This recipe provides perfection in every bite with only 1.8 grams of net carbs per serving!

Keto calzones

These are fairly easy to make and we are sure everyone will love these. Also, they’re mini calzones instead of one big calzone, so you can pack these into your kid’s lunch box for school!  Of course, if you want, you can make one big calzone, similar to our amazing low carb burrito, but these mini calzones are so cute and taste just as good.

When it comes to the filling, we went with the classic pepperoni and cheese, but you can toss in some cooked spinach as well or just make the calzones with two types of cheese. The varieties are endless and you can choose whatever you like as long as it is on the keto-approved food list.

You have to make these at least one time for yourself and the family! They may even ask for more!

Tips to make almond flour calzones

Here are some tips to know when making this easy recipe:

  1. Fathead dough can be very sticky. To prevent this, chill the well-mixed dough in a fridge for 30 minutes before you use it. That way, it will be easier to use.
  2. Do not have a cookie-cutter? If you do not have a large cookie cutter, an easy trick is to use a glass to cut out the calzones. This will work just as well.
  3. The dough can be made with an electric mixer. Just add your ingredients to the bowl, attach the dough hooks and let the mixer do its trick.

How to make keto calzones

Gather all of the ingredients you need to make these delicious calzones.

To start preheat the oven to 350F.

Then start making the dough, by combining mozzarella cheese, and cream cheese in a microwave bowl. Microwave the cheeses on high for 4 minutes, making sure to stir halfway through to combine.

Once the cheeses have melted, remove the bowl from the microwave and fold in the almond flour and egg. Stir the ingredients with a spatula.

Once this is done, transfer the dough to a kitchen counter and knead gently. You can dust the counter with some more almond flour if needed.

Then roll the dough between two pieces of the baking paper to the desired thickness.

Once you’ve gotten the desired thickness, cut out circles using a 5-inch cookie cutter. Then knead the rest of the dough to form a ball, roll that dough out and cut out as many circles as possible.

Once this is done, go ahead and brush the circles with some low carb pizza sauce, then top with pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese.

Next, you will fold the dough over half, and pinch the sides together, then press each with a fork or use a calzone press until each keto calzone is sealed.

Arrange the calzones on a baking sheet and bake these for 15 minutes at 350F.
