Let’s get started and bring some tangy deliciousness to your kitchen!

Ingredients for pickled eggs

  • 12 small to medium eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of pickling spice (see how to make it below)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup distilled vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • A sprig of fresh dill, optional

How to make pickled eggs with pickling spice

Gather all the ingredients in one place.

Then boil the eggs – Place all 12 eggs into a pot, and pour enough water to cover the eggs completely.

Simmer on low heat for 12 minutes. Then remove from heat and place in an ice bath. Peel all the eggs and set them aside.

Next, place another pot over medium heat. Then pour 1 cup of distilled vinegar, 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of salt into the pot and simmer for 3 minutes. Let this cool slightly.

Then grab a large mason jar (I’m using a 32 oz mason jar in this recipe) and place all twelve eggs into the jar.

Also, add a few sprigs of fresh dill, and 2 tablespoons of pickling spice into the jar. Then pour the brine into the mason jar.

How long will pickled eggs made with pickling spices last?

Pickled eggs can last between several weeks and up to 4 months when stored properly in the refrigerator. I recommend keeping your homemade pickled eggs in a glass jar or plastic container with a tight-sealing lid and consuming them within three to four months for the best quality.

Pickling spices for eggs

You can always buy a handy pickling spice mixture from Amazon.

However, I love creating my own pickling spice blend. I find that by making my own blends, I get to elevate any pickled recipe or dish into a mouthwatering masterpiece.

My homemade pickling spice blend is a carefully crafted mix of whole spices and herbs which includes mustard seeds, cinnamon sticks, bay leaves, red pepper flakes, cloves, allspice, caraway seeds, dill seeds, and coriander seeds.

Each of these spices adds a unique dimension to the blend that brings out the best in any pickled recipe! You can find the full recipe for my pickling spice blend here.
