This delicious homemade sauteed shrimp recipe only needs a handful of easy-to-find ingredients and tastes amazing. It’s also versatile and is the perfect protein for any type of side dish!

If you’re on the lookout for fun, easy dinner ideas, this easy sauteeed shrimp is one of the best ways to go!

Most shrimp recipes call for grilling or boiling, but if you’re short on time or want something that’s quick and tasty, I’ll show you how to make the best sautéed shrimp using just a skillet, a little oil or butter, and fresh seasonings.

The best part about this recipe is that the ingredients are simple — shrimp, garlic, lemon, honey, soy sauce and a few spices you probably already have in your kitchen.

Besides how easy it is to make this recipe, my sautéed shrimp is also incredibly versatile. I’ve made it just as listed below, but I’ve also switched it up by adding some smoked paprika for a smoky kick, and a few times I’ve left out the honey.

Every single time, the shrimp turns out juicy, tender, and really delicous. And if you don’t like cooking the same way all the time, you can easily make your own tweaks to keep things interesting. Here are some different flavors combos that work for this recipe:

Flavor Variations

  • Garlic Butter Shrimp – swap the olive oil for butter and double the garlic for the best garlic butter shrimp.
  • Spicy Cajun Shrimp – toss the shrimp with Cajun seasoning before sautéing.
  • Lemon Herb Shrimp – add Italian seasoning and extra fresh chopped herbs like parsely.
  • Honey Garlic Shrimp – whisk 2 tablespoons honey into the pan at the end. This one is so good!

Another great thing about this sautéed shrimp is that it cooks in just 5–7 minutes. You can make a quick batch for yourself, or double it up to feed the whole family without needing to spend hours in the kitchen!

  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley or cilantro (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

How to make Sautéed Shrimp

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, chopped parsley, salt, minced garlic, chili flakes, honey, and onion flakes or powder. Set this aside for a few minutes.

Clean your shrimp under running water and then pat dry with a paper towel.

Then, add the shrimp to the marinade and toss well to ensure they are all evenly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to let the flavors soak into the shrimp.

After marinating, grab a skillet and add a lttile oil or butter over medum heat (You dont need much since the shrimp marinaded in an olive oil based marinade. Cook the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes per side until they are pink and cooked through.

Cook Time Tip: Shrimp cook very quickly. Once they curl into a “C” shape and turn pink, they’re done!

Serve immediately with a side of your choice. On this day I choose mashed potatoes! But, there are so many other sides that go well with this. I’ve shared some ideas below!
