Alfredo pasta is one of the best-known Italian recipes worldwide; therefore, there are many versions of its preparation. In many cases, this pasta is used as a side dish because it usually works very well with many main dishes, and as such, it is an effortless dish to whip up.
Alfredo pasta with cream cheese contains a little more fat and has a much better flavor. It is quite filling too and will be well-liked by those who enjoy it. In fact, I’m sure this recipe will become a favorite in your kitchen!

Ingredients for cream cheese pasta sauce
- 250g. of vermicelli pasta, *you can use the pasta of your choice
- ½ cup of cream cheese, 120 g.
- 1 clove of garlic
- ¾ cup liquid milk, or water, 180 ml
- 2 butter spoons
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ cup mozzarella cheese for topping (optional)

How to make pasta sauce with cream cheese
Gather all the ingredients in one place.
Then pour 6 cups of water into a medium saucepan and bring to a boil on high heat.
When the water begins to boil, add a teaspoon of salt. Then wait a couple of minutes, and immediately cook the pasta according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Long pasta requires about five minutes to cook, while short pasta requires about seven.
When pasta is al dente, drain the excess water into a colander, and return the pasta to the pot. Add a tablespoon of butter to the cooked pasta to prevent sticking. Reserve.
Peel the garlic clove, and cut it into small pieces (use this handy stainless steel garlic press from amazon to mince the garlic clove so there are no chunks.
Put a medium pot on the stove, but this time turn the stove to low heat. Place the butter in the pot, along with the garlic. Gently move the butter from one side of the pan to the other until it is melted.
Add the cream cheese to the mixture, and stir it a little until it is integrated. Be careful with the temperature; the cream cheese mustn’t reach boiling point.
Add the milk, and cook until all the ingredients have been integrated into a homogeneous mixture.
Lastly, season the creamy pasta sauce made with cream cheese with some salt and pepper to taste.
Next, add the cooked pasta. Stir gently without turning off the stove until the pasta is completely covered with sauce.
Serve hot, topped with mozzarella cheese on top.
Note: This Alfredo pasta recipe should be served immediately and eaten while it’s still hot because when it cools, the cream cheese regains its dense texture, and the pasta stops being as delicious.
